Art in the Making

< Back

Wendy was born in England in 1958 and currently lives in South West England.

She studied art & design and print techniques and graduated with distinction in Typography & Graphic Communication at the Cleveland (UK) College of Art & Design.

Wendy also studied fine-art and studied botanical illustration at the Botanical Centre, in Marton, and artwork techniques at CCAD (UK).

Her work which in included in many private collections, features a variety of media and subject matter.

Her painting began with fine-art commissions of wildlife, landscapes and portraits and developed to include contemporary and abstract imagery.

Recent commissions include Davy Process Technology, Beauville Developments, Enron Teesside Operations, Cleveland Community Campus and Darlington Building Society.

Wendy has worked closely with Darlington Building Society for the past 12 months and is currently the Society's artist in residence.

The residency initiative is funded in part by one of only ten awards made by Northern Arts under 'Encore', the Regional Arts Lottery Programme.

Wendy won the commission to portray the Society within its local environment, reflecting its corporate image and bright future in her contemporary style.

The original artwork is currently on display at the headquarters in Darlington. It has also been used in the Societies Annual Report and is featured on large scale hoardings for Darlington Homes Ltd (a subsidiary of Darlington Building Society) in the centre of Darlington.

The site hoardings, which are prominent in Coniscliffe Road and Stanhope Road have already attracted attention and positive comment. Instead of the traditional white plywood, these hoardings reflect the artwork and contemporary style.

Future commissions include a further commission with Davy Process Technology.
