Wendy won this commission from Darlington Building Society in 2001, to portray the Society within its local environment, reflecting its corporate image and bright future in a contemporary style.

The commission depicts the town of Darlington and its links with the Society in a distinctive modern contemporary style.

The original artwork is currently on display at the Society's Principal Office in Darlington.

The artwork has also featured in numerous publicity materials ranging from annual reports to large scale (15 x 8m) site hoardings.

The site hoardings, which are prominent in Coniscliffe Road and Stanhope Road in Darlington, have already attracted attention and positive comment.

Instead of the traditional white plywood, these hoardings feature the highly praised artwork from the Darlington Building Society commission.

Wendy has worked closely with the Darlington Building Society since 2000 and is currently (2002) the Society's artist in residence.

Darlington Building Society is a community focused organisation, dedicated to looking after the local interests of the people of County Durham, North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley. During 2000 over 80 worthy causes in this region received our support.
